Mathematical Model & Guide

Jackpot Calculator

This guide explains the deterministic mathematics and logic behind the Ad Astra Jackpot Calculator. The tool enables operators to model and balance four progressive jackpot tiers, fixed-budget promotions, and Multi-Trigger player engagement mechanics.

How to use the casino jackpot calculator

Use the calculator to compare jackpot configurations against the same projected wager volume. Adjust one assumption at a time to see how contribution rates, prize ranges, promotional budgets, and engagement mechanics affect payout and trigger frequency.

  1. 01Bet input

Enter the total accumulated wager volume you want to model for a comparable operating period.

  2. 02Tier configuration

Configure each jackpot tier's contribution percentage, starting seed, and minimum and maximum prize range.

  3. 03Promotional budget

Add the monthly promotion budget, expected turnover, and the portion of that budget allocated to player payouts.

  4. 04Performance analysis

Set the fail-safe and average daily prize assumptions, then compare total payout, RTP, and modeled engagement.

1. Jackpot Tier Economics

Core Jackpot

Silver Tier

Designed for frequent, lower-value payouts. It serves as the primary driver of activity on gaming machines.

Gold Tier

A mid-tier level that combines steady frequency with an integrated fail-safe mechanism.

Platinum Tier

A high-value tier intended for larger stakes and significantly rarer, but more attractive, hits.

Diamond Tier

The highest premium tier, with the lowest contribution rate and the largest payout range.

Average target value

Target = (Minimum Range + Maximum Range) ÷ 2

The representative average value at which the tier triggers a jackpot, calculated as the arithmetic mean of the defined range.

Required to hit (net accumulation)

Required = Target - Starting Seed

The net amount players must contribute through bets from the moment the tier resets until the jackpot is awarded.

Total hits per tier

Hits = (Accumulated Bets × Contribution Rate %) ÷ Required to Hit

The projected number of triggers for the observed bet volume. The contribution rate is the percentage of each bet that funds the tier.

Total payout and share of payout

Total Payout = Total Hits × Target

Share of Payout % = (Tier Payout ÷ Total System Payout) × 100

Defines the monetary volume and percentage share of each tier in the total jackpot budget, allowing the reward balance to be verified.

2. Promotions and Global RTP

Combined Metric

Real monthly promotional budget

Real Budget = Nominal Budget × (Target Payout Rate % ÷ 100)

The actual net amount allocated to direct player payouts after applying the allocation rate to the nominal promotional budget.

Daily promotion RTP

Promotional RTP % = (Real Monthly Budget ÷ Monthly Turnover) × 100

The mathematical system load generated by daily offers and promotions, expressed as a percentage of turnover.

Global system payout

Global Payout = Total Jackpot Payout + Real Promotional Budget

The total amount the system allocates to players across all core jackpot tiers and promotional mechanics.

Global RTP (total load)

Global RTP % = Base Jackpot RTP % + Daily Promotion RTP %

The final return-to-player percentage, providing full control over casino profitability and margin.

3. Multi-Trigger and Player Engagement

Retention & Frequency

Secondary triggers (Silver & Gold Fail-Safe)

The system calculates additional player touchpoints through:

  • Silver second chance: The frequency of secondary opportunities following near misses on the Silver tier.
  • Gold Fail-Safe triggers: A guaranteed trigger within the defined minimum and maximum game range.
  • Daily Promo Drops: The number of individual micro-prizes distributed throughout the day.

Engagement efficiency multiplier

Multiplier = Net System Triggers ÷ Base Jackpot Hits

A key retention indicator. It shows how many more positive notifications or wins a player experiences compared with conventional jackpot systems, while maintaining full control of the same budget.
